I want to get an HDTV. What kind should I get? (Details inside.) Lots of questions, can someone please help?

I’m looking to get a medium-sized HDTV to use in my bedroom with my new XBox 360 and my Wii, and to watch TV with obviously.
What kind should I get? What should I look for? I’d like for it to be between $300 – $600, and not outreagously huge. I’m looking for something like 22″ or 26″. I think 26″ is what my current TV is but I could go smaller, that’s for sure.
I’ve actually tried a 42″ in my room but it’s just too bright and it made me rather ill. But I don’t really watch TV that much anymore anyway; this will probably be used more to play video games on.
Are there any brands I should steer clear of? Sansui? LG? Visio?
I apologize for all these questions; I just want to be sure! I’m tired of making bad decisions and I would like to set this one straight, so I wanted some tips before I go TV shopping.
Get a 26″ Vizio. I got mine and its great. this one is 1080i .. has component input, 2 hdmi inputs, a couple of the red white yellow cord inputs.. and computer monitor input with up to 1024 x 680 I think the refresh is only 60 hz. pretty sure theres a coaxial input too. Great sound… .. great. I get good usage out of mine.. with the computer and the ps3.
It cost me 489 with tax. Theres also a headphone jack as well.
Thats my recomendation… funny thing is.. the box said 720p… but when I play my ps3.. the ps3 and the tv both say 1080i.
